Every experience, every person, every encounter, every road, every moment is new. In the last five days, I retreated to a small village, Satkhal, in the Nainital District of Uttarakhand, with the Himalayan Writers Retreat. I spent almost every second dissecting and discussing story ideas written by writers from various backgrounds and writing styles. Sidharth Jain of StoryInk and House of Talkies led the camp, which went flawlessly without a particular schedule.
My decision to embark on this journey was inspired by the idea of elevating two of my startups – 'write left and centre' and 'monastery of love' – to the next level with pan-Indian goals. The lesson to take home is to think big and be unique. Create a distinct proposition to make your product/service visible to those in need and uncluttered. Sid was narrating his first multi-country production experience for Hollywood with Salman Khan during the session, as a classical example of creating a different and unique market proposition to not only survive but thrive in any industry – especially in a particularly niche market like production, which is controlled by a limited number of players.
Meeting people, spending time with them, and debating on matters that are not your familiar topics provide you with unique insights to solve your everyday problems, I believe. Step out of your comfort zones at least once a month."
