Several activists, concerned citizens and politicians from across the state were in attendance at the protest site today to show their solidarity.Villagers are opposing the mega project citing concerns related to lack of transparency, severe pressure on the village’s already limited resources, including water and electricity supply, potential environmental damage and the long-term impact of large-scale construction on the local ecosystem.Adding to the opposition, several local farmers have claimed that they have traditional tenancy rights over portions of the proposed project site. Villagers asserted that the protest is not only about opposing the project, but also about protecting their land, livelihood, and the future of the village.
