Picture this: Dean of Jabalpur Medical College, Prof. Dr. Gita Guin, and Prof & Senior Consultant of the gyne-oncology department, Dr. Rani Bhat, sitting by the roadside, sharing a hearty laugh. Last August, while on our way to the Valley of Flowers, we were stranded for 6 hours due to a landslide. Despite exhausting all options like exploring nearby eateries and pleading with strangers for restroom access, we were losing hope as it was a Sunday with no clearing efforts in sight. Then, Dr. Gita sprung into action. With the help of locals, she relentlessly called every politician and police officer in town, putting pressure until a local politician came down to meet us and cleared the road within 45 minutes. This experience taught me that the best moments often arise from unexpected challenges. Here’s to the resilience of women and cherishing those unexpected moments, even if they involve sitting by the roadside. Because when you look back, it’s those moments that bring the biggest smiles.
