Once a year, we travel to the Gopalpur Cluster in Odisha for our Annual Weavers Meet. Not to inspect. Not to instruct. To sit together on the floor, in the same room as the looms and talk.
About what worked. What didn’t. What we want to make next. What they want to try. What the craft is asking for.
Anupriya sat on the floor with the women weavers and listened. A weaver stood up and spoke. The saris were held up together designer and weaver, same hands, same frame and assessed honestly.
This is not how most handloom brands operate. We know that.
Our weavers weave exclusively for Vani Vrtti for no other label. That relationship doesn’t run on contracts. It runs on this meeting, this room, this floor, this conversation that happens once a year and carries the next twelve months of work inside it.
Every sari you wear from us was decided here first.
