Amazing. In a strong and definitive action today, The Hon Chief Justice took suo moto cognisance of the terrible Hassan monkey tragedy and asked for concerned officials to explain this cruel action.
He mentions that ‘provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 1960 and in particular, Sections 3 and 11 thereof. We, therefore, direct the Registrar General to file a writ petition seeking action against all those who are responsible for the said incident of monkeys. It is also necessary to lay down the guidelines to ensure that such inhuman and shocking incidents are hereafter prevented.”

The AHVS Animal Care Helpline was launched less than a month ago by the Hon AHVS Minister & the dept. While ambitious and bold in scope and quick ex*****on, the learnings are intense. There is much to be done to truly provide care to the animals.
To create a stronger, more robust and responsive 3 in a box system, the vets of AHVS Blr must be partnered with closeby and / . It’s the first of its kind such effort.
For those who are interested to volunteer as above and help or lead rescue activities for reported cases in this format can please share their details of name, preferred areas of rescue, nearest shelter and govt hospital in addition to phone number, address and id proof to this Id.
In addition, anyone interested to volunteer on the AHVS helpline itself , will be welcome.

Grateful that the Member Secretary, (Karnataka Animal Welfare Board) Dr Shivaram BN has promptly issued this on ACT’s request for & Care during the temporary . It is these initiatives from -AH&VS Taskforce which is a public-private platform that enable and drive on ground action that in turn, helps us all.
