Changes to Medicaid made in HR 1 could mean 10 million people will lose their benefits by 2034. HR 1 also cuts more than $900 billion in Medicaid funding over 10 years. In New York State alone, close to 760,000 New Yorkers could lose Medicaid benefits.

-The biggest loss of Medicaid coverage will come from new work requirements, even though most people with Medicaid who can work already do so.
-For folks who cannot work, even the smallest error on the paperwork to get an exemption could mean they will lose their benefits.
-Medicaid is the primary insurer for people living with HIV. Losing Medicaid benefits could mean thousands will lose access to life-saving medications.
