Airspace closed, airlines halt flights as US, Israel attack, Iran responds

The U.S. military has begun “major combat operations in Iran,” President Donald Trump said Saturday in a video address that came shortly after Israel announced it had launched a “preemptive strike.”

Israeli Minister of Defense Israel Katz said the attack was launched “to remove threats to the state of Israel,” adding that a missile and drone attack was expected against Israel immediately as a consequence.
