When I was 12, I made my first email and “Jazzy” was already taken—so I typed in “Jzzy” and hit send. That name stuck with me for years. Everyone close to me has always called me Jazzy, so it just made sense at the time. But I always knew I’d eventually evolve into something new and end up changing it.

Growing up in Ajmer, I always struggled with my identity, being half Indian and half American. Being called a foreigner my whole life just because I didn’t look Indian enough. But as I get older, I’m unlearning those insecurities.

My new artist name is Sitara ✨
It’s Indian, and it brings me closer to who I am and where I come from. I want to carry my culture with me in every step I take.
