Zygo Artist

An object changes when its function disappears.
Removed from its original context, an everyday object becomes surface, structure and sculpture. What remains recognizable up close takes on an entirely different presence when seen as a whole.

Two distinct expressions of ZYGO’s sculptural language, brought together in a private collection.
A wall-based composition built through the repetition of individual screws sits alongside a freestanding sculpture that transforms a familiar object through scale and form.
Together, they reflect two recurring ideas in ZYGO’s practice: accumulation and transformation.

Up close, the material is immediately recognizable. From a distance, that recognition begins to disappear.
This tension between the familiar object and the new form it creates lies at the center of ZYGO’s sculptural language.
The work asks us to look twice at materials we normally overlook.
