Hi! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Maarika, and I am the owner and founder of .sessions

I grew up dancing competitively and my first job was teaching dance, so the studio is like a second home to me.

Life also decided I needed a whole crate of lemons 🍋 delivered to my front door, so I am an expert in creating healing elixirs.

I promise, I’m not annoying about it, though. 😊✌️

When I was feeling ready to be seen again, I really wanted a classic studio class designed for someone like me: an ex-professional dancer who wanted a good, classic studio warmup before jumping into choreography.

I couldn’t find it, so I designed it myself. ❤️

I have two different workshops: soft focus, created for ex-dancers who miss the studio, and soft(er) focus, designed for people who always wanted to dance but were too afraid to try.

Each one is designed to be inclusive to all levels and all bodies, so there’s no need to wonder which one you fit into. One is just a bit more challenging than the other. So it all depends on how you’re feeling.

I believe that dance heals us in profound ways. That it allows our Soul to thrive without bringing religion or New Age ideology into the room. It’s just you, your body, and the music. And it’s so incredibly unifying.

the biggest complaint I see from dancers online is that they feel like their choreography workshops are all about the instructor’s social media algorithm.

at .sessions , the focus is always on the dancing.

so the videos I post from class will always be cinema verité. the camera is just a fly on the wall so we can focus on you + your relationship to the music.
