May this new year bring you closer to the life you deserve.

It felt fitting to share my new painting today, as it is a piece I revisited to give my saint a completely new face (and a new halo).
And what a difference it made!

It made me think about how powerful change can be. Not just on canvas, but in life.
About the hope of seeing a new face of Iran - one of freedom, dignity, and self-expression.

I keep finding myself drawn to that quiet tension between movement and stillness… to that steady gaze that leaves space for speculation, emotion, and story. Her story. A sacred one.

This is Abigail, my new painting.

From her first stages in my studio to being on the move—on our way to the gallery, where she’ll be shown in an upcoming portrait exhibition.

While painting her, I imagined she was flirting with a man across the table.
My daughter saw something else entirely:
a woman trapped at her mother’s kitchen table, listening to
“So… when are you getting married?”

Same pose.
Very different stories.
