What does it mean to be a wise entrepreneur?
Our IMBA students recently had the honor of exploring this question in a workshop with guest lecturer, Professor Dr. Andre Habisch, the Dean of Faculty at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt in Germany.
The course, "Social Innovation and Wise Entrepreneurship", went beyond traditional metrics to focus on a new kind of leadership. It emphasized that while innovation drives "creative destruction," managers must also be mindful of the social consequences of their decisions.
The workshop challenged students to apply "Practical Wisdom" to business scenarios, considering not only the empirical data but also the moral, cultural, and human impact of their choices. For example, the course highlighted the importance of considering the impact on existing staff when relocating a new production facility, demonstrating that wise management is about balancing values, people, and goals.
This focus on "soft skills" and responsible leadership is at the core of our program, preparing a new generation of leaders to navigate complex environments where change can provoke resistance.
