Each year, around 11 million metric tonnes of plastic waste ends up in our oceans, much of it from single-use products used for only minutes.

The impact is devastating:
🐢 Over 100,000 marine animals die each year from plastic pollution
🐦 Around 1 million seabirds are killed annually from ingesting plastic
🐠 Microplastics have been found in seafood, sea salt, and even drinking water
🌍 If current trends continue, there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean by weight by 2050

These statistics are exactly why initiatives like matter.

A brand-new coffee festival is coming to Portsmouth this October, and 2GoCup is proud to be the core cup partner. Helping the event run completely single-use free from day one. 🎉

It’s exciting not only to support Coffee on the Coast from its very first year, but also to see sustainability built in at its core. ♻️🙌

It’s a strong reminder of the importance of moving away from disposable cups and creating better systems for events like this.

We’re delighted to announce that will be joining us from September, implementing 2GoCup across their canteens and coffee areas. 🤩🎉

Universities and colleges that have already joined 2GoCup play a vital role in helping us significantly reduce the number of single-use cups produced each year.

Implementing 2GoCup is expected to eliminate over 25,000 disposable cups annually, delivering environmental benefits, including:
♻️ Approximately 30 wheelie bins of waste avoided
⚖️ Around 500kg of waste prevented each year
🌍 Up to 750kg of CO₂e emissions saved annually

To further reduce reliance on single-use items, a 50p charge will be applied to disposable cups, supporting a shift towards more sustainable habits across campus.
