⚽ The World Cup kicks off today.

For Alejandro, football started as a dream.

As a child attending his local Compassion project in Honduras, he loved playing as a midfielder and dreamed of one day becoming a professional footballer.

Today, at just 18 years old, he's living that dream.

Alejandro now plays professionally in Honduras, but he hasn't forgotten where he came from. Alongside his football career, he spends time investing in younger players at his local Compassion project, helping them develop their skills and confidence on and off the pitch.

His advice?

*"Work hard, stay consistent, and never give up."*

We're cheering Alejandro on as he continues to inspire the next generation.

UPDATE: 8 June Philippines Earthquake

Hear from Edwin, our Compassion photojournalist on the ground, as he brings the latest update on how children and communities are doing in the aftermath of the earthquake.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support for the families and communities across the Philippines in the aftermath of the powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck on Monday.

We’re continuing to hear updates from our National Office and church partners, but we can confirm that every single Compassion sponsored child in the area has been accounted for and is safe.

While we praise God for their safety, the road ahead is incredibly challenging for many across the nation.

How you can help:

🙏 Please continue to pray for all those impacted, for those grieving loved ones for those who have lost livelihoods and those facing significant damage to their houses and churches.

🌍 If you feel moved to support practically, please consider offering towards the Disaster Fund. You can find the link here: https://bit.ly/43rs99m

When disaster strikes, children living in poverty are often the hardest hit.

Floods, earthquakes, drought and conflict can leave families without shelter, clean water, food or safety in a matter of moments.

But even in the middle of a crisis, God is present. And through the local church, His love is reaching families with provision and hope.

Join us in praying for children and families living through uncertainty, and for the local churches continuing to serve their communities with courage and compassion.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

This promise reminds us that hope begins with God. As we trust in him, he fills us with joy and peace that go beyond our circumstances.

And that hope was never meant to stay with us alone. When God fills our hearts, it overflows into the lives of others.

Today we’re reminded that small acts of faith, love, and generosity can carry hope further than we imagine.
