The Rustic House

What a fabulous collection of images! A very rare original Irish school wall poster “ The Teacher’s Conversation piece 2 “, created by The Educational Company of Ireland c.1910. The poster is full of rural imagery, animals, people, traditions and pastimes. I love the well dressed gent being chased by a bull, the moustachioed cyclist, and there’s even a rat chewing a chicken leg!
There is considerable creasing to the surface, and the edges are worn, but it retains all the detail and lovely strong colours. It is attached to the original thick card hanging frames top and bottom, with new hanging string.

Another Victorian gentleman, this one a beautiful hand coloured daguerreotype showing a rather thoughtful sitter, replete in its original finely made embossed leather case. The case has the coat of arms of the United Kingdom embossed on the front, with a paper label with an unreadable name written on it. C.1850
