German hydrogen electric aircraft powertrain developer H2FLY has celebrated a significant milestone by conducting a pilot flight of an electric aircraft powered by liquid hydrogen.

This pioneering achievement, deemed a world’s first, opens up new possibilities for zero-emission long-distance flights.

The HY4 demonstrator electric aircraft, piloted for the first time, utilized cryogenically stored liquid hydrogen instead of pressurized gaseous hydrogen storage.

This German innovation significantly reduces tank weight and volume, potentially doubling the aircraft’s maximum range from 750 km (466 miles) to 1,500 km (932 miles).

Sligo Airport are hosting an Air Show in partnership with an experienced operator (Bray airshow) on 6th August 2023.
Sligo County Council are supportive of the airshow as it once again provides an opportunity to showcase what we have to offer in the county and wider region to visitors.
