Happy International Translation Day!!
Great webinar on AI and translation yesterday organised by FIT (International Federation of Translators) giving us hope that we are not so easily replaceable. Apart from data protection issues, AI cannot recognise human emotions which convey nuanced albeit significant messages and so are crucial when interpreting. Instead of perceiving AI as a threat, we should see it as a tool that can greatly enhance our work. Comparison can be drawn to the invention of the calculator which did not put mathematicians out of work. There is hope, fellow translators and interpreters! Stay calm and keep working and learning! Your work matters as it brings people together. All the best to all translators and interpreters around the world!
