Ballymun Library

A gentle reminder sensory hour is back on the Tuesday 9th June.
Ballymun Library runs a Sensory Hour for children aged 4+ and their parents or carers from 4:30 - 5:30 on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.
During Sensory Hour children can engage with our sensory collection of toys and equipment in our lecture room. Lights are dimmed and noise levels minimised as much as possible. We also spotlight items from Dublin City Libraries Assistive Software & Sensory Toy Catalogue.
These are free, drop-in sessions, no booking is required, and you can attend at any point between 4:30 and 5:30.
Children must be supervised at all times during Sensory Hour.

Cruinniú na nÓg is Ireland's national day of free creativity for children and young people under 18.

To celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg 2026, Lorcan Mac Mathúna will host a Sean-Nós Singing Workshop in Ballymun LIbrary on Saturday 6th June at 2.00pm, suitable for children aged 8-15 years.

The children of Ballymun Junior book club had their final meeting on Wednesday before the summer holidays. They enjoyed a party, and said goodbye to Leo, Megan and Ming, who will be marking a new chapter themselves when they go to secondary school in September.
We had a great discussion about "The Nowhere Emporium", which you can borrow from our "Summer Stars" Inspiration display stand in the Children's library.
It also features many of the books the children read throughout the year!

Summer Stars has officially launched across the country. Here in Ballymun Library we've gone with a Space theme this year. When you join up to Summer Stars you can add your name to our Star wall. We have a range of Space themed books to borrow along with many other choices. We are also running a Bookmark competition (Space themed of course)open to children 5-12 years of age. 👩‍🚀🌎🌕🪐💫⭐️☄️🚀🛸
