"Shin splints slowing you down? 🏃♀️ Here's what you need to know:
Shin splints is an umbrella term for pain in the shin. Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS) is the most common version. This refers to inflammatory changes along the outer layer of your tibia called your perisoteum.
⚡️ Common Causes: Overtraining, improper footwear, and lack of recovery.
🛠️ Prevention & Relief Tips:
1️⃣ Gradually increase intensity in your workouts.
2️⃣ Wear supportive shoes and consider insoles if guided by a health professional
3️⃣ Stretch and strengthen your calves and shin muscles to compliment your running.
4️⃣ Use rest and modify your exercise routine to reduce pain.
