The City Council has arranged for these imaginative and creative wildlife chainsaw sculptures, made from the recently felled tree trunks, to be installed where the trees used to stand. Thanks ! The Rathmines Initiative will be engaging with the City Council on suggested locations for the replacement trees the Council has promised.

A Post have the City Council first refusal to buy Rathmines Post Office but it declined the offer! Local Councillors have appealed to the Council to reconsider. If A Post persists in its plan to sell, there are many good public users that the building could be out to. Ivana Bacik, TD, Cllr. Dermot Lacey, Chair of the South-East Area Committee of Dublin City Council, and local Councillor Fiona Connelly have been to the forefront of the campaign to save our beautiful and historic Post Office. Despite their efforts and ours in the Rathmines Initiative, An Post has announced it will soon put the building up for sale. Please join this protest on Saturday and make your opposition known!

🚨 Join us at our protest to save Rathmines Post Office on Saturday 21st June at 11.30am.⁠ ⁠ On foot of rumours circulating of its imminent closure, relocation or sale of our beloved post office in Rathmines, I sought clarification from An Post and can now say that it is expected postal services will be relocated, either in August or September, with this iconic and historic building to be sold.⁠ ⁠ We have been working hard to find a way to keep the building working for the benefit of our community and I continue to advocate creative and collaborative solutions, alongside local Councillors @cllrfionaconnelly, @dermot_lacey and others. ⁠ ⁠ However, the news that moving the service may take place in a matter of months, and the sale of the building may take place soon thereafter, means we must now up the ante.⁠ ⁠ Contact Minister Patrick O'Donovan ([email protected]) and tell him to intervene to save this invaluable service for the people of Dublin Bay South and join our protest next Saturday.
