🚨Status Orange: High Forest Fire Risk 🚨

With the High teperatures over the coming days and increase number of people taking to the great outdoors Kildare Fire Service would like to reminded everybody that they too have a part to play in preventing wildfires.

🟧 A Status Orange high risk warning is now in place until Monday the 13th July.

What this means:
Help to reduce the risks of fire by keeping the following in mind:

🔥 No barbeques or outdoor fires in forests. Use only designated barbecue points where available. Thoroughly soak BBQ embers after use and make sure that they are extinguished completely

🚫 Landowners must follow restrictions on land burning

🚗 Park responsibly – Do not block forest entrances or roads when parking - access may be required by the emergency services or forestry personnel in the event of an emergency.

📞 If you see a fire: Call 112 or 999 immediately, move to a safe location, and follow emergency

🚓Report any illegal and suspicious activity to the Gardai. Note that the burning of growing vegetation on uncultivated land between 1 March and 31 August each year is prohibited by law.

🔥Do not approach fires or attempt to extinguish fires yourself. Wildfires can be extremely dangerous and can rapidly change direction and behavior.

Kildare County Council is advising the public to remain weather aware over the coming days, following the meeting of the National Severe Weather and Flooding Coordination Group to review forecast conditions for Ireland.
The current forecast points to two separate weather-related risks: exceptionally high temperatures and the potential for heavy thunderstorms, which may bring intense rainfall, localised flash flooding, poor visibility, large hail and damaging wind gusts.

The public is encouraged to monitor Met Éireann forecasts and warnings at www.met.ie and to be prepared to take action if conditions deteriorate locally. Updates are also available through official news and social media channels.
Kildare County Council will continue to monitor the situation and liaise with relevant agencies as required.

An tseachtain seo, chleacht ár mBriogáid i Léim an Bhradáin roinnt Teicnící Scaoilte mar chuid dá gClár Druileála Ráithiúil. Is iad seo na Scileanna Teicniúla a dhéanann comhraiceoirí dóiteáin chun othair a tharrtháil go sábháilte ó fheithiclí a bhíonn i gceist i dTimpistí Tráchta Bóthair.

Tá ár n-oícheanta druileála seachtainiúla ríthábhachtach chun na scileanna, an obair foirne agus an inniúlacht oibríochtúil seo a choinneáil atá riachtanach chun ár bpobail a chosaint. Trí chleachtadh agus forbairt rialta a dhéanamh le chéile, cinntímid go bhfuil gach comhraiceoir dóiteáin ullamh chun freagairt go sábháilte agus go héifeachtach nuair is mó a bhíonn gá leis.

This week our Leixlip Brigade practiced some Extrication Techniques as part of their Quarterly Drill Programme. These are Technical Skills firefighters perform in order to carry out the safe rescue of patients from vehicles involved in Road Traffic Collisions.

Our weekly drill nights are vital in maintaining these skills, teamwork, and operational competence needed to protect our communities. By regularly practising and developing together, we ensure that every firefighter is prepared to respond safely and effectively when needed most.

Well done to SO Ciaran Harrington and the Crew.
