With 2020 being a very difficult and strange year for everyone, we hope that 2021 will be a better year and that we can return to some sort of normality.

One abiding memory I will take from 2020 was the widespread generosity and kindness shown from ordinary people to those in need and less fortunate than themselves.

When the system we call a government failed the people, ordinary folk stood up as volunteers, donators and helpers. These people made it possible for the likes of soup runs, food banks, etc. to operate and help those less fortunate. These people went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that as many people as possible had food and essential supplies. Those people are an inspiration and a credit to themselves and you all should be very proud of yourselves.

As we have seen, anyone can get into difficulty and need a helping hand. So a thought to carry forward into 2021 would be for everyone to take a few minutes out of their day to phone or call in on family members, friends and neighbours to ensure they are all ok.
