Thank you to the Tourmakeady Ambush Monument Committee and all the community for the wonderful event to unveil the monument commemorating the 1921 Thuar Mhic Éadaigh Ambush. Very interesting talk by Sinéad McCoole on Cumann na mBan in the war of Independence. And the launch of Ultan Lally’s Book on the Ambush. It was an honour to be amongst the huge crowd gathered to remember with family members of those who fought for freedom.
Dereliction and shops closures in our towns and villages are a visible reminder that government is failing to support our SME sector.
The vacancy rate nationally is at 14.6% - that's 30,687 vacant commercial units across the country!
Current initiatives are claearly not working. This Fianna Fáil / Fine Gael government must do more now to breathe new life back into our communities and save our local economies.
