For the first time in a while I'll be demonstrating Fair Isle knitting at Shetland Textile Museum next week. This is the start of a headband - it's always best to make a start before the visitors arrive. The blue part was knitted on a knitting machine a while ago and will become the lining of the headband. The raepin string is white cotton which was too short so I'm using an old pair of tights to make an extension. The working needle is pushed into one of the holes in the knitting belt. Everything is held steady/stable which I find much more comfortable than using a circular needle.
