A simple pot of herbs on a window can bring some of nature into the home
What is surrounding us right now?
I spent time this morning reading updates and filling my mind with information which, while important, also imported unmeasured amounts of negative energy to my mind and my body.
This activity of updating myself on the national and world events left me tense, anxious and worrying about the future.
Then I heard the birds singing and the gentle breeze outside my open kitchen window. The sound attracted my other senses so I looked and saw the water flowing in the river, the colours of the trees and nature on the mountains opposite and the birds busy building their nests
I moved outside and felt the breeze on my face, and the fresh air in my lungs, touched the leaves on the trees and smelled the fresh spring flowers.
When I stay present to my immediate surroundings using my senses, the tension, anxiety and worry all reduce greatly.
I know I am lucky to live in a beautiful scenic area, but we can use the smallest piece of nature, our back gardens, window boxes, house plants, kitchen herbs.
So let's take a little time to look around us in this moment and spend a few minutes to listen, touch, see, smell and taste(if edible such as a kitchen herb) and allow nature to bring balance to our minds and our bodies.
If we spend just one minute on each of our senses we will create a short mindfulness practice which we can introduce as part of a daily self care routine.

Daily Routine!!
Many of us have been thrown out of our regular routine as a result of the Corona virus.
I find the most important part of my routine across my whole day is actually setting a time at which I go to bed.
If I go to bed at a time that allows me get 8 hours sleep then I have the opportunity to create a good day for myself, as I wake up fresh, felling well rested and ready for my day.
Over coming days I intend to get back to posting a few pieces of basics for good self care in these difficult times.
