Corns and Calluses

Corns and calluses are hard or thick areas of skin that can be painful. They're usually not serious. There are things you can do to try to ease them yourself.

- wear thick, cushioned socks

- wear wide, comfortable shoes with a low heel and soft sole that do not rub

- use soft insoles or heel pads in your shoes

- soak corns and calluses in warm water to soften them

- use a pumice stone or foot file to remove hard skin regularly

- moisturise to help keep skin soft

Treat Foot Corns

Foot corns are hardened layers of skin that develop from your skin’s response to friction and pressure. You may have foot corns if you experience the following symptoms:

- rough, tough, yellowing patch of lumpy or bumpy skin on your foot
- skin that’s sensitive to touch on your foot
- pain when wearing shoes

Foot corns can be safely treated, and you can even prevent future ones.
