With the promising news of the Fair Deal scheme funds being made available to support a loved one in their home, reform of the profession of 'Carers' is needed. Carers are a critical resource in providing homecare to our ageing population. Without them, the option of homecare is significantly reduced. They need to be rewarded fairly financially and supported to develop professionally. Current practices are outdated and simply not sustainable.

Keeping people in their home should be our first priority. Interesting debate to occur on the return of the Dail on expansion of the Fair Deal scheme to include home care packages. http://bit.ly/2bxdwKQ
