Leinster String Quartet

The fifth track on our album is ‘Sympathy Is a Knife’ from Charli XCX’s 2024 album ‘Brat’ 💖

We wanted to record a current & fun synth-pop track that wouldn’t take hours and hours to perfect in the studio! 😅

LSQ Rachel made an original arrangement the song and it took her no time at all, as the original track is quite raw with a simplistic accompaniment and vocal line. We also made a last minute decision to add synth hand claps at the time of recording for added energy!

The fourth track on our album is The Wider Sun - A brief, ethereal instrumental piece by UK composer/producer Jon Hopkins, released as the opening track on his 2013 album Immunity.

As a quartet, we have followed Jon Hopkins’ work for many years and we’ve been to see him live several times - We love how he combines electronic music with the most uplifting lush orchestral textures 💗

Aoife, our cellist originally commissioned composer/arranger Michael Doherty to arrange The Wider Sun for her own wedding entrance music. It was absolutely perfect so we decided to record it and produce a video to go with it - Have a look on our YouTube channel! ✨
