Antenatal classes in most countries have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving women and their partners with little access to detailed information.
Developed by maternal health researchers from the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin, Journey to Birth will launch on June 29th. The free, six-week, online course provides evidence-based information for pregnant women across the world, to help them prepare for labour and birth.
Journey to Birth is designed for pregnant women, particularly those who are expecting their first baby. The course is also suitable for partners of pregnant women or women who are planning a pregnancy.
Designed in partnership with women’s organisations, midwives and maternal health experts, the course covers a range of issues, including creating a birth-plan, how to detect early labour, and coping strategies to help during labour and birth.
Journey to Birth has been funded through the Health Research Board (HRB) Knowledge Exchange Dissemination Scheme (KEDS).
