Landed at our website just last week, so let’s give them a proper spotlight!

Mescan Brewery has carved out a unique place in Irish craft beer, focusing almost exclusively on authentic Belgian-inspired styles. While many breweries chase the latest trends, Mescan stayed true to its philosophy: brew patiently, use traditional methods, and let time do the hard work.

The story began back in 2010 when two veterinarians working in Westport decided they wanted a change from life on call. They started brewing on a tiny 50-litre homemade kit in garage, refining recipes week after week before eventually building their own brewhouse on a farm in County Mayo.

Their first commercial beers arrived in 2014 and they’ve been showcasing the beauty of Belgian brewing ever since!

And why the name Mescan? Mescan was the monk said to have been St. Patrick’s personal brewer, making it one of the most fitting names for an Irish brewery!

Whether you’re discovering their elegant Westport Blond, the rich Red Tripel, the refreshing Saison or one of their seasonal releases, Mescan proves that great beer doesn’t need to shout. It simply needs patience.
