Learn drawing techniques inspired by our Western, Eastern and Islamic collections. These creative, relaxed sessions with Irish-Iranian artist Roxana Manouchehri are open to teens and adults of all abilities. This workshop will focus on page composition.

Han characters are one of the world’s oldest writing systems still in use today. Join us for an interactive workshop hosted by Cantonese in Ireland, where you will learn how Han characters work, how to recognise common building blocks within characters, and how people historically used them to communicate ideas across regions and cultures.

By the end of this two-hour workshop, participants will be able to recognise and read selected characters found within the collections of Chester Beatty.
❗No previous knowledge of Chinese or East Asian languages is required. Suitable for beginners and anyone interested in language, history, museums, and culture.
