Starting from today, 10th July, Instagram will allow search engines such as Google and Bing to index (find) content uploaded to professional Instagram accounts.

The update means public posts, reels and videos can appear in Google search results. Users don’t need to be logged in to Instagram or even have an account with Instagram to see your content.

If you have a professional account (this update does not apply to personal accounts yet) that is public but don’t want your content to appear in search engines you can opt out. Look for the option in Instagram’s privacy settings.
