Interested in publishing your medical or healthcare related research?
Do you want your articles to be indexed in Google Scholar, and held in libraries in Ireland and the UK?
The Trinity Student Medical Journal (TSMJ), established in 1999, is Ireland’s longest running student-led peer reviewed medical journal. The journal aims to provide a platform for students to communicate current original medical or health science related research.
Articles are accepted from students in medicine and other healthcare fields from any of the Irish Universities, as it is our view that medicine is the meeting point of many health science disciplines.
All our articles can be found free to access on our website and indexed in Google Scholar. Hard copies of the TSMJ are distributed in the main TCD hospitals, the TCD libraries, as well as all legal deposit libraries in Ireland and in the UK.
It is a great pleasure to announce that submissions are now open for the 23rd volume!
The deadline for submissions is the 1st of July, and all articles are to be submitted to [email protected]
Full details on submitting an article can be found in the 'Instructions for Authors' section of our website (http://www.tsmj.ie/index.php/tsmj/information/authors).
Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to receiving your submissions.

We are pleased to introduce Dr Ronan Doherty, our guest speaker who will discuss getting into research during the pandemic!
Ronan is a current academic intern at Beaumont Hospital, having graduated from Trinity last year. He began his work in research during the summer of his second year, carrying out projects in surgical oncology and neurosurgery. He further went on to complete a research elective in neurosurgery at the Mayo Clinic and has presented at national and international conferences. As a prior member of the student research committee and TSMJ, Ronan hopes to engage and make research more accessible for healthcare students at an early stage in their careers.
This event will take place on the 31st of January at 7pm over Zoom! Don’t forget to register to secure your place. Sign up here to get the Zoom link: shorturl.at/owzCY
