One design decision gave this kitchen 78% more storage without extending.
Most homeowners think they need an extension when their home doesn't work for them.
But in this project, one design decision increased their kitchen storage by 78% without adding a single square foot.
What was the decision?
đĄWe switched the position of the kitchen.
The original layout forced the kitchen into the wrong part of the room, limiting storage, interrupting flow and wasting valuable wall space.
đBy relocating the kitchen to a more functional position within the exact same footprint, we were able to:
⢠Increase storage by 78%
⢠Create better flow between the kitchen and dining area
⢠Add more usable worktop space
⢠Make the room feel bigger and calmer without extending
Same house. Same square footage. Completely different way of living.
This is why reconfiguration should always be explored before considering an extension.

It wasnât about having a glazed doorâŚ
It was about being able to see the kids playing in the snug while sitting in the living room.
It isn't about opening up wallsâŚ
It is about feeling connected to your family, even when everyone is doing different things.
It isn't about creating a view through to the gardenâŚ
It is about bringing light, life, and togetherness into the heart of the home.
đĄBecause good design isnât just about how a home looksâŚ
Itâs about how your home makes your family feel.

It was never about just having a breakfast counterâŚ
It was about being able to empty the dishwasher while he told me every detail about his school tour.
About hearing the excitement in his voice while dinner was cooking.
About being present for the ordinary moments that end up becoming the memories you miss the most.
Thatâs the thing about good designâŚ
The layout was never the real goal⌠the moments it creates are.
đĄItâs about creating a home that makes real life work better.

Most homeowners think they want an open plan kitchen.
But very often, what they are actually searching for is better connection within everyday family life.
They want:
⢠To cook dinner without feeling isolated,
⢠To hear about their childâs day naturally,
⢠To feel more connected while all doing different things,
⢠To create spaces where conversation happens more easily.
Because great spatial design isnât just about creating bigger rooms.
Itâs about creating homes that better support how your family lives, interacts and connects day to day.
The most valuable renovations arenât always the biggest.
They are the ones that completely transform how life feels inside the home.
