Global Money Week (GMW) is an initiative of the OECD - OCDE, and IOB is delighted to be working with the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Ireland’s GMW co-ordinator.
Global Money Week is in its 12th year and the theme for 2024 is “Protect your money, secure your future”. This year’s focus will be on safe money management and being aware of the risks facing individuals when dealing with their money, whilst also highlighting the importance of adopting a responsible and informed approach to personal finance.
IOB will host a series of online events on this theme dealing with pension planning, know your rights and awareness of current frauds and scams.
These events will be delivered over the week beginning 18th March.

Wednesday 20th March - Consumer Protection and Rights
Thursday 21st March - Protecting our Teenagers – Understanding Risks in Financial Services

Under The Central Bank of Ireland's regulations, the minimum competency requirements have been extended for Credit Unions and will come into effect in October 2024. As part of IOB’s ongoing support for Credit Union members, we want to advise you of the ways you can gain a professional designation required under the Central Bank of Ireland Minimum Competency Code (MCC).
On successful completion of the UCD accredited Professional Diploma in Financial Advice with IOB you will be invited to take up both the QFA (Qualified Financial Adviser) and EFA (European Financial Adviser™) designations. The QFA designation is the benchmark designation for advisers who work in the financial services sector, including the Credit Union movement and satisfies the Central Bank of Ireland’s Minimum Competency Code.
