Drogheda Trad Weekend

The annual Drogheda Trad Weekend concert in honour of Caitlin Bean ui Cairbre who was instrumental in promoting the traditional music culture in Drogheda is always a highlight in a weekend of great music and song.
This year's concert takes place at 8pm Saturday 22rd November at Droichead Arts Centre and features husband and wife folk duo Zoë Conway and John Mc Intyre who bring exciting blend of eclectic fiddle and guitar music, to the stage sympathetic arrangements of traditional Irish music, compositions and songs, old and new.
As well as Zoe and John, singer and flute player Desi Wilkinson will perform. Originally from Belfast, Desi was a long-term resident of Drogheda before living in far-flung places such as Brittany, Limerick and Newcastle.
Unfortunately this event is SOLD OUT, but welcome Zoe, John and Desi.

Enjoy some virtuoso trad music the historic surroundings of Drogheda's Tholsel on West St. at 2pm Saturday 22nd November, courtesy of fiddler Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, who last played in Drogheda some years ago with This is How we Fly, returns this time to play a solo concert as part of this years Drogheda Traditional Music and Singing Festival.

Drogheda Traditional Music & Singing Weekend's Saturday events begins at 11am with Nicholas Carolan, a Drogheda native, and founding director of ITMA and now its Director Emeritus, giving at talk in the Highlanes Gallery on The History of Traditional Music in Louth.

The first of the DTMSW 2025 pub sessions takes place tonight at Drogheda's Barney Mac's on the Cord Road, beginning on Friday the 21st from 5–7pm with the trio of Roisin Ward Morrow, Breifne Holohan, and Matthew Meehan on banjo
Then tomorrow Saturday the 22nd November at 9pm, legendary Louth fiddle player Gerry O’Connor joins forces with accordion virtuoso Martin Quinn and the exceptional Michelle Powderly on fiddle.
All are welcome to these free sessions.

Drogheda Traditional Music & Singing Weekend returns this year from Friday 21 November until Sunday 23 November, celebrating its 29th year. Once again the weekend will encompass events throughout Drogheda featuring some of Ireland’s most esteemed traditional singers and musicians as well as a collection of our best local talent as the town comes alive with music with singing concerts, talks, pub sessions, and a traditional sets céilí.
Finishing off the 2025 Drogheda Traditional Music & Singing Weekend an AFTERNOON SINGING SESSION with special guests Bláithín Mhic Cana takes place at Droichead Arts Centre at 3pm.
Bláithín Mhic Cana is a celebrated Sean Nós singer and teacher from Slieve Gullion, County Armagh. She specialises in the Oriel singing tradition, carrying forward the rich repertoire documented by singers and researchers such as Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin. A multi-award winner at Oireachtas na Samhna, Bláithín has performed at major festivals including The Frank Harte Singing Festival, Féile na Tána and Electric Picnic. She is a founding member of Tempest, whose debut album was released earlier this year, and in 2024 she was honoured with the Gradam Cois Life award.
