Get Visual: Communication Studio

We just completed a big one, a natural cancer treatment explainer animation for a pharmaceutical company. This was a tough one to explain. See what you think, we'd love to hear your feedback.

The Brief:
Communicate a complex novel cancer treatment to potential investors and a non-science educated audience in three and half minutes.

The Challenges:
1: The video needs to be friendly even though it is about a very serious, often terminal, subject.
2: This is a highly technical subject.
3: The treatment uses a non-standard approach, which will take much explaining.
4: The treatment needs to be seen as it is, a natural and non-destructive treatment. Assumptions need to be addressed.

The main challenge was the Balancing of:
a) the right level of information to display authority without overwhelming the viewer;
b) the right level of colour, movement, and rhythm to keep the viewer watching, without sacrificing the seriousness of the topic;
c) the natural aspect combined with the scientific method.

This was a difficult subject. We wrote, storyboarded, voice-recorded, and animated all in-house and the clients were delighted with the results.

Leonardo da Vinci famously said, “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” We couldn't agree more. Our [former] company name 'Elucidate' means to make clear, and a large part of clarity is simplicity. Simplicity takes work and deep understanding. It means cutting away the excess without losing the fundamentals. We did this for one of our services and simplified an entire process to three words. Distil, Visualize, Animate. Then we did that.
