Tom Lyons U9 Football Invitational Tournament 2026

On behalf of the U9 coaches, we are thrilled to say that the Tom Lyons U9 Invitational Tournament was a resounding success. The weather played ball, and Ahamilla never looked better.

A huge thanks to the five visiting teams who travelled to Clonakilty: Ballincollig, St Finbarrs, Fossa, Dr Crokes and Kilmacud Crokes. Five round games and three finals later, it was pure, end-to-end football action.

A sincere thanks goes to each and every one who helped in the planning, the run-up, and on the day of the tournament. From selling tea, coffee, and raffle tickets, to making sandwiches, managing parking and manning the loudspeaker, it was a truly trojan effort by an army of dedicated and generous parents.

A special word of thanks to our U16 players for giving up their Saturday afternoon to ref the games.

We also extend a massive thank you to our sponsors whose support made this entire event possible.

Finally, to the namesake of the competition, Tom Lyons—we hope we have created a yearly event to honour and thank Tom for his incredible service to Clonakilty GAA.
