🔥 Chimney fires are very common and largely avoidable with regular maintenance.
❌ Never burn household rubbish or plastics in your open fires or solid fuel stoves.
🧹Make sure your chimney or stove flue is professionally cleaned at least once a year.

Don't store logs or fuel next to open fires or stoves.

A wicker basket full of timber which was placed next to a stove caught fire in a house in South Cork recently.

Luckily a working Smoke Alarm alerted the owner who was able to extinguish the fire with a fire extinguisher before the fire brigade arrived.
