The Ashbourne Skate park is now officially open.

Initially designated way back in 2003 the park also known as Linear Park phase 3 had many set backs, it was meant to be developer led however following the crash, many of the developers and land owners went bankrupt. The area with our top class schools campus, 3 primary schools Gaelscoil na Mí, Ashbourne Educate Together and Community National schools along with Coláiste DeLacy, were built instead of a few hundred houses.

The park now includes some parking near the entrance to Churchfields, walksways, a new pedestrian bridge, cycle parking, disability parking, additional bins, the long, long awaited skate park and a small basket court.
The landscaping is a mix of new native planting and I’m happy to say that over the years I was able to retain and secure the mature hedgerows and trees along the Churchfields boundary despite two attempts to clear this biodiversity reach area.

It’s hoped that a link will follow, subject to NTA (National Transport Authority)funding, into Churchfields itself. This will likely be subject to a planning application known as a part 8.
For know let’s enjoy a small but significant addition to our open spaces. Hopefully more to follow with a minimum of 20acres being promised soon by Meath Co Co.

I’m working with residents to get additional AED’s into Ashbourne. Currently, the southern end of the town has no public AED. If we hit the target an initial 2 will be sourced and put in place. If the funds raised go above that target, additional areas will be selected. Please support if you can. These are vital life saving pieces of equipment. Thank you. ❤️
