My friend Simone using the Hum in its most natural form.

Not for performance. Not to impress anyone. Not to be “good” at music.

Just a human being regulating herself through sound.

In a world where so much expression becomes performance and validation, many people forget what it means to simply be present with themselves.

For me, if there is such a thing as “sound healing,” it begins here.

When the person themselves plays. When the sound becomes personal. When rhythm slows the nervous system. When there is no audience to convince.

Just breath. Touch. Listening. Presence.

This is the original intention behind the Hums.

Today I want to acknowledge Brother Mike, the official Achelois Hum Ambassador for Bosnia, based in Sarajevo.
Watching how he opens space for people through the hums really moves me.
Mike already carries a beautiful foundation through yoga and presence work, but what inspires me most is how he expands beyond his own practice. He invites other passionate souls to join the space...musicians, movers, creative spirits.
And when that happens, something special appears.
It stops being about one person.
It becomes an ensemble.
A conversation.
A relationship.
For me, this is the real spirit of the Achelois Hum.
Not performance.
Not ego.
But sincerity, listening, and people creating something meaningful together.
Brother Mike, thank you for carrying the hums in Bosnia with such honesty and heart. It’s beautiful to see the sound growing in Sarajevo.
Grateful for this brotherhood.

Yesterday at Konekt Café in Ubud, I met a beautiful German brother, Steffen.
Before touching the Hum, we simply spoke.
We listened to each other’s stories for a while. No rush. Just presence.
When he finally approached the Achelois Hum, I gave him only one direction:
Touch it slowly.
I didn’t have to repeat it.
The way he approached the instrument was so soft, so respectful, so present… it honestly brought tears to my eyes.
You could feel that this was not just someone playing an instrument.
You could feel a man who has done inner work in his life.
The Hum responds to that.
This instrument is not about speed, performance, or impressing people.
It reveals something deeper .. the relationship between the hands, the breath, and the heart.
Moments like this remind me why I created the Achelois Hum Drum.
Thank you, brother, for your presence and your beautiful touch.
Germany might one day have a very special Hum ambassador.
