💠 Where to base yourself

✨ Canggu, the social hub. Digital nomads, surf culture, great coffee, easy to meet people. Noisy but alive.

✨ Ubud, slower, deeper, more intentional. Great for solo travellers who want to think, create, or just breathe.

✨ Seminyak, a little more polished. Good food, good nightlife, still walkable.

✨ Sanur, underrated. Calm, local, affordable. Perfect if you want Bali without the circus.

💠 Best things to do solo

✨ Sunrise at Mount Batur, book a guided trek. You'll meet people on the way up and watch the world appear from above the clouds.

✨ Cooking class in Ubud, social, fun, you leave with a skill and usually a group dinner.

✨ Cycle the Campuhan Ridge Walk in the early morning, quiet, beautiful, completely free.

✨ Visit Tirta Empul Temple, spiritual, grounding, and genuinely unlike anything else.

✨ Day trip to Nusa Penida, book a group snorkel tour. Manta rays. Enough said.

💠 Where to find your people

✨ Outpost and Dojo (Canggu), co-working spaces that double as social hubs. Events, networking, communities of long-term travellers.

✨ Tribal Bali and Canggu Community Facebook groups, post before you arrive and you'll have plans before you land.

✨ Beachwork (Seminyak)
solid co-working with great wifi and a good crowd.

✨ Hubud (Ubud) the original Bali co-working space. Still one of the best.

💠 Things to be careful of

✨ The Kuta strip at night, still fun, but watch your drink and watch your wallet.

✨ Unofficial money changers, only use authorised booths. The "best rate in Bali" scam is alive and well.

✨ Taxi touts outside the airport, use Grab or Bluebird only. Agree nothing at the curb.

✨ Rental scooters without a licence, the police checkpoints are real and the fines aren't fun.

✨ Bali belly, eat where locals eat, drink bottled water, go easy the first few days.

💠 What not to do

✨ Don't overschedule. Bali rewards wandering.

✨ Don't skip the north. Munduk, Lovina, Pemuteran, completely different island up there.

✨ Don't stay in Kuta unless you specifically want that energy. Most people don't.

✨ Don't underestimate the cost of activities. Budget for experiences, not just accommodation.

Bali solo is one of the great travel experiences.
