Kirk says that he and Rob can play all those different styles because they bring real musicianship to it. They play it convincingly, and they play it from the heart.

But being dropped into a weird or uncomfortable musical situation and still being told, “Okay, now play from the heart,” is a huge challenge. It’s a tall order — but it *is* doable. You just have to commit.

Sometimes Kirk and Rob would commit to performing a song within 24 hours, even when it involved complicated jazz chords or difficult musical changes.
