Never a Roadmap

I recently visited Wae Rebo, a traditional Manggarai village located in the mountains of western Flores at about 3,600 feet above sea level.
It’s definitely something that you should add to your next trip! I used and they were fabulous.
They are locals who know everyone, show respect to the culture, and truly I couldn’t imagine the trip with anyone else!
The village is known for its seven cone shaped houses called Mbaru Niang.
Families still live here and maintain their ancestral traditions. Our guide provided the respectful attire to wear!
Getting there requires effort. From Labuan Bajo it is about a 4 to 5 hour drive to Denge village, followed by a 15 minutes dirt bike ride, and then a 3 hour uphill hard and hot trek through the forest.
On arrival there’s a short traditional welcome ceremony before staying overnight.
Accommodation is communal inside the Mbaru Niang and don’t plan on sleeping too much. Dorm style.

Life these days on the boat has been such a vibe!
Wow! 🤯 ⛵️🏝️🇮🇩
3 days. 2 nights and only a short 1:20 minute nonstop flight from Bali!
Sailing through Komodo National Park with where mornings begin with sunrise hikes above the clouds, afternoons drift into turquoise water, and nights fall under a sky that doesn’t need a filter.
We swam with manta rays.
Frolicked in the sand at Taka Makassar sandbar.
Danced on Pink Beach.
Watched Komodo dragons.
Laughed on the top deck with salty hair, music playing, and zero plans beyond the horizon.
If Labuan Bajo, Flores isn’t on your list yet… it should be.
Would you do a liveaboard for 3 days? ⛵️👇
