Great Sumatran Fault,
or Semangko Fault is a geological formation that stretches across Sumatra Island from north to south, starting from Aceh to Semangka Bay in Lampung. This fault forms the Barisan Mountains, a series of plateaus on the west side of the island. The Semangko Fault is relatively young and is most easily seen in the Ngarai Sianok and Anai Valley areas near Bukittinggi City.
It also can see clearly on the way from Kuta Cane (Southeast Aceh District) to Blang Kejeren Valley (Gayo Lues District) at the battom of Mount Leuser.
From the high of Panton Cuaca we can see that fault lay from southeast to northwest, surrounded by layer of mountain on farground.
The road from Kutacane to Takengon are one of the most scenic drive in Sumatra for road trip. Its have amazing landscape. It must be in your bucketlist to experience an overland trip passing this route
