Monkey behind bars

🇩🇪 Nach 776 Tagen bin ich wieder zurück in Deutschland. Bei 32.000 km auf dem Fahrrad durch 30 Länder habe ich viel erlebt, viel gesehen und allem voran viele nette Menschen getroffen.

Manche luden mich zu sich nach Hause ein, mit manchen teilte ich die Straße für eine Weile, und mit manchen von euch unterhielt ich mich bloß kurz.

🇬🇧 After 776 days, I arrive back in Germany. On 32.000 km on the bike through 30 countries, I experienced and saw a little portion of our beautiful home. Most importantly though, I met so many friendly people.

Some welcomed me to their home, some shared the road with me for a while and some I just met on the road and had a chat with.

🇩🇪 Wir machen einen Ausflug in den Nordosten Balis, um nochmal tauchen und schnorcheln zu gehen, bevor wir uns auf den Rückflug vorbereiten.
Das Wetter zieht dem Schnorcheln leider einen Strich durch die Rechnung, da die Wellen zu viel Sand aufwirbeln, und somit kaum was zu sehen ist.
Dafür gehe ich auf 3 Tauchgänge. Zwischendurch gibt es einmal starke Strömungen, aber sonst herrschen gute Bedingungen und wir entdecken viele Fische und ein altes amerikanisches Schiffswrack.

🇬🇧 We head over to the north-eastern corner of Bali for some last snorkeling and diving, before preparing for the return flight.
The weather says no to snorkeling. Unfortunately, the waves cause the sand to reduce the visibility in the shallow areas near the beach.
But I go diving 3 times. There is a strong current in one area, but other than that, the conditions are great and we discover lots of marine life and an old US ship wreck.

🇩🇪 Von Bromo geht's direkt weiter zum nächsten Vulkan - Ijen. Wir laufen hoch zum Krater, und dann runter zum See. Wir schaffen es gerade noch vor der Morgendämmerung zu den blauen Flammen, bevor diese im Tageslicht verschwinden.

Danach geht's zurück nach Bali, wo gerade Nyepi stattfindet - Tag der Stille, des Fastens und der Meditation. Es werden Statuen gebaut, die am Abend verbrannt werden. Am zweiten Tag ist alles geschlossen und alle bleiben Zuhause. Covid19 flashbacks

🇬🇧 From Bromo, we went straight to the next volcano, Ijen. We walk up to the crater rim, and go down into the crater towards the colorful lake. We make it just in time before dawn to the lake, where the blue flames are burning, before they disappear in daylight.

Afterwards, we come back to Bali, where the Nyepi celebrations are just starting. Nyepi is the day of silence, fasting and meditation.
Statues are being built, that will be burned in the evening. On day 2, everyone stays at home and everything is closed. Covid19 flashbacks

🇩🇪 Zurück in Labuan Bajo, unternehmen wir eine Tagestour durch den Komodo Nationalpark. Es gibt super Aussichtspunkte und Spots zum Schnorcheln. Auf Komodo Island treffen wir die letzten lebenden Drachen und um das ganze abzurunden, schnorcheln wir noch mit einigen Manta Rochen 😀

🇬🇧 Back in Labuan Bajo, we join a trip through the Komodo Nationalpark. We enjoy some nice view and snorkeling, get to see the last Dragons and to give it a perfect finish, we snorkel with a bunch of Manta rays 😀

🇩🇪 Im Rinjani Nationalpark gehen wir 2 Tage wandern. Am ersten Tag geht's geht's rauf zum Krater auf 2650m und nach einer Nacht im Zelt wieder runter zum Hotel. Auf dem gesamten Weg genießen wir fantastische Aussichten und zwischendurch gibt's lecker Essen 😋

🇬🇧 At Rinjani Nationalpark, we go hiking up to the crater rim, spend a night in a tent there and go back down the next day. Throughout the whole trek we enjoy great views and in the meantime we get yummy food 😋
