During 2027–2028, Erik ”Rötan” Danielsson will step back from live duties with Morbid.

This is to allow him to fully devote himself to the ceremonial closing of Watain — a considerable body of work encompassing three decades, and a task that demands his undivided focus in its final chapter.

To ensure that no compromise is made in ex*****on, a replacement drummer will take his place on most performances during this period.

The replacement will be announced soon.

The final confirmed appearance with Erik behind the drums before this temporary withdrawal will take place in Kraków, Poland, October 2026.

In a gesture of deep mutual respect, Morbid asked Attila to lead the funeral procession at last weekend's gathering — and he answered the call.
His voice an invocation, he chanted as he led the procession.

The intro is an amalgam — pulling together elements of Morbid's past and present.
On that Friday the 13th, in Attila's hometown of Budapest, his chant added yet another layer to that summoning of the past.
