One last video from the road
22/03/2026
This morning, I had the privilege of preaching on 1 John 1:5-10 to our church in Ste-Philomene. It is a passage that has meant a lot to me over the years. It’s so simple, so clear, and so powerful. God will never excuse sin, but he will always forgive it. When our churches become places where it is safe to confess one’s sin, genuine community forms and people’s lives are transformed by the Gospel.
The weather threatened to cancel everything today but 10 Sunday school monitors or so still showed up and our pastors’ meeting went forward as scheduled.
After the Sunday school teachers class, a sister came up and said she needed to speak to me. She said she had had a dream in February in which she had seen me crying for help from the middle of a hurricane. She had been praying for me ever since. Once she learned I was coming to Haiti, she planned to tell me. Then she found out I wasn’t planning on speaking at the church she goes to so she thought she wouldn’t see me. She asked God to give her a chance to tell me about the dream. On Thursday, one of the pastors at her church just happened to ask me if I could teach this class. She didn’t know I was coming. When she woke up to a rainstorm this morning, she thought class might be canceled but she decided to go anyway. When she walked in and saw me, she knew she was meant to deliver her message. It greatly encouraged me and lined up with what we studied this morning. There are always things going on in the unseen realm we aren’t aware of, but God works everything together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose.
