Stress is the body's reaction to a new event or something perceived as threatening. A reasonable amount of stress can therefore be useful since it makes it possible to adapt to the environment. For example, stress can give the child the momentum and motivation he needs to learn and evolve.
However, when stress becomes persistent, it can interfere with the child's learning and development. This may have more serious repercussions on his physical and mental health.
Of course, the sources of stress are not the same for all children, but some elements cause stress at any given time.
A loss of control: for example, the separation of parents is a stressful event since the child has no control over the situation.
An unforeseen situation: for example, a child may be nervous if his teacher is absent and was not notified the night before.
A new situation: for example, changing schools creates stress for the child because he finds himself in an entirely new situation.
A threatened ego: For example, having to answer a question in front of the whole class and fearing ridicule can be a stressful event for a child.
