The recent allocation of only 26.5% from the government's 2023 carbon credit revenues demonstrates a clear disregard for the needs and development of Amerindian communities. This insufficient allocation restricts the capacity of these communities to undertake essential capital and non-capital socioeconomic projects that are crucial for their growth and sustainability.

It is imperative that more funds be released to truly support the advancement of Amerindian communities. The government must recognize the importance of empowering these communities with the resources they need to thrive, rather than controlling and limiting their access to development funds. We call for a fairer distribution of resources that genuinely reflects the value and contributions of Amerindian peoples to our nation’s environmental and cultural heritage.
